Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect information when carriers and drivers use TruckCrave ELD.

1Information we collect

  • Account information: driver and carrier names, usernames, driver's license number and issuing state, USDOT number, and contact details provided by the carrier.
  • Hours-of-service records: duty-status events, certifications, edits, annotations, and unidentified driving records.
  • Vehicle data: unit number, VIN, engine power status, vehicle motion, odometer, engine hours, and malfunction and diagnostic events.
  • Location: GPS position at the times described in section 3.
  • Inspection reports: DVIR entries, defects, and signatures.
  • Device and usage data: app version, device type, and error logs used to provide support.

2How we use information

  • To record and display hours of service as required by 49 CFR Part 395.
  • To give motor carriers access to their drivers' records and to support required record retention.
  • To transfer records to authorized safety officials when a driver or carrier requests it.
  • To diagnose problems, provide support, and improve the service.

We do not sell driver or carrier information.

3Location data

The ELD records location when the driver changes duty status, at engine power-up and shut-down, and once every 60 minutes while the vehicle is being driven, as required by the ELD rule. Recorded location is limited to approximately a 1-mile radius, or approximately a 10-mile radius while the driver is using Personal Conveyance.

4Who can see the information

  • The driver can view their own records.
  • The motor carrier that employs or contracts the driver can view that driver's records.
  • Authorized safety officials receive records when the driver displays or transfers them during an inspection, or when the carrier provides them during an audit.
  • Service providers that host or support the service, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Others when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5Retention

Hours-of-service records and supporting documents are kept for at least six months so the motor carrier can meet 49 CFR 395.8(k), and longer if the carrier's agreement with us requires it. When a carrier closes its account, records are kept for the remainder of any required retention period and then deleted.

6Security

Each user signs in with their own credentials. Access within a carrier account is limited by role. Records include the integrity check values required by the ELD specification so that changes can be detected. We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we hold.

7Driver protections

Federal rules (49 CFR 390.36) prohibit motor carriers from using ELD data to harass drivers. Drivers can file a harassment complaint with FMCSA. The ELD keeps the original version of every record, so changes made by anyone other than the driver can be identified.

8Your choices

Drivers who want to review or correct account information should contact their motor carrier first. You may also contact us at the address below. Some records cannot be deleted while federal retention rules apply.
